Traditions of the oldest university in Azerbaijan
Gasim Mammadov, vice-principal of the University of Oil and Industry, Azerbaijan:
- One of the most famous universities in Azerbaijan was founded in 1920 and today we celebrate its 95th anniversary. Over these years, the University changed its name several times. In 2015, by the Decree of Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, our University was renamed the University of Oil and Industry, which certainly enhanced its status as an educational institution that trains specialists in many areas.
Since its establishment, the University has trained 80,000 specialists, including 160 doctors of sciences, with 3000 candidates.
At the exhibition, we will inform visitors about the history of the University, the main programs of study, the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, the possibility of obtaining dual diplomas, and much more.
We have been assigned big tasks for the preparation of high-level specialists for the needs of the economy. We collaborate with universities in 60 countries through TEMPUS and ERASMUS programs, and we conduct teaching activities in three languages - Azerbaijani, Russian, and English. The foreign citizens are also studying at the University, and most of them are citizens of China, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.
The first day of the exhibition showed there is great interest in our institution. Many questions have been asked about further education and retraining, as well as a reflected interest in the textbooks written by our University’s teachers.
