Education and Career 2013 - unique opportunities for career and employment
Today at the JW Marriott Absheron Baku Hotel, the final day of the 7th Azerbaijan International Education and Career Exhibition 2013 is drawing to an end. The success of the event, organized by Iteca Caspian LLC and its partner, ITE Group Plc, has exceeded all expectations. The exhibition brought together visitors, who saw presentations from more than 100 higher education institutions from 18 countries. It is the only event in the field of education organised with official support from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The exhibition is also supported by the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers’) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Here at the exhibition high school graduates were able to find the best education programmes on offer, both in our country and abroad. Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Russia, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Canada, South Korea, Belarus and others informed visitors about the educational systems of their countries. It may be no accident that the majority of the visitors were young people seeking to get a good education in the best universities of the world. Another large segment of the guests was made up of young specialists searching for employment opportunities.
During the event, Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijani Minister for Education; Rimantas Vaytkus, Deputy Minister for Education in Lithuania; Member of the Academy of Creative Pedagogy and Doctor of Medicine, Professor Vladimir Bazarny; Valery Berchun, President of the Russian Union for Healthy Child Development; and a number or their colleagues, as well as diplomatic representatives and members of the media attended the exhibition stands, met with university teaching staff and heads of foreign missions. In his speech at the opening ceremony, Mr Jabbarov highlighted that the steps taken to train highly qualified professionals play an important role in the transformation of each state into a developed industrial country. The main purpose of the exhibition is to draw public attention to educational issues in Azerbaijan; this is why the holding of such an event is so clearly important and useful.
The huge conference halls of the JW Marriott Absheron Baku that had been reserved for the exhibition were filled with business vigour and the youthful aspirations of thousands of young men and women. The healthy ambitions of the younger generation were highlighted by the professional readiness of the exhibitors, who were willing to consider any offers and tirelessly consulted with future students and their parents on education and employment issues. The expositions of educational programmes specializing in the law and the economy, as well as language and business, were of particular interest.
Education and Career is unique in terms of the favourable conditions it offers those searching for their future profession, as well as providing real assistance to employers and job seekers. This year the leading companies of Azerbaijan were present as exhibitors in the Career sector. Major employers, such as Azercell, ÂÐ, SOCAR-AQS, JTI and UniBank, advertised vacancies in the telecommunications, oil and gas, energy and banking industries. Moreover HRC, a recruitment company, participated in the exhibition. For the first time, Iteca Caspian, the organiser of international exhibitions and conferences in Azerbaijan, participated as an exhibitor. Their stand, no. 1042, attracted the attention of many visitors who were hoping to work for Iteca Caspian. The company’s managers have collected more than 100 CVs and observed that the company has a wide range of promising new young professionals to choose from.
In the interviews and conversations with colleagues, foreign exhibitors noted the importance of the exhibition, which had allowed them to undertake comprehensive local market research, to identify the trends in strategic partnerships in this field and to create business plans for future prospects. The exhibition participants had prepared special offers for student and academic exchanges and cooperation in scientific research for representatives of Azerbaijani educational institutions.
The great feedback from the exhibition among interested circles produced a business programme to accompany the exhibition. During the first day of the exhibition a roundtable discussion on "New initiatives for Azerbaijani labour market development" was held, bringing together representatives of different ministries and departments and private companies operating in Azerbaijan. Among the participants were the heads of the HR departments at Azercell, Azerfon, Azersun Holding, Akkord and BP; higher education institutions; human resources organizations; and representatives from non-governmental organizations. The main objectives of the discussion were to create a constructive dialogue between employers and universities, to discuss pressing issues in the labour market of Azerbaijan, to expand areas of cooperation between these two parties, and to consider further joint initiatives for the development of the labour market. The event was a great success and has created a strong foundation for optimizing cooperation between universities and employers.
An important event of the business programme was the private seminar by Member of the Academy of Creative Pedagogy, Honoured Worker in General Education of the Russian Federation and Doctor of Medicine, Professor Vladimir Bazarny, which was entitled “Organisation of the educational and cognitive process in pre-school and mainstream school institutions and its impact on the development and viability of new generations of the nation”. Professor Bazarny presented a unique system that would transfer educational institutions to a strong foundation for healthy development, which will ensure that the potential of children is realized during their education. Dr Bazarny was invited by the organizers with support from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Within the framework of the exhibition an awards ceremony took place for the winners of the contest sponsored by the organizers of Education & Career. The awards were presented in a solemn ceremony with the participation of popular radio DJ Dr Zia. Orkhan Asadov, Sanan Pashayev, Nijat Amiraliyev and Ilgar Alizadeh all won e-readers (provided by Sony).
All these facets of the exhibition prove the relevance of Education & Career, which provides a unique basis for personal communication between interested parties – representatives of education institutions and future students, employers and job seekers. In view of the growing interest in both aspects of the exhibition, we have decided to divide Education and Career into two separate projects: the Azerbaijan International Education Exhibition and the Azerbaijan International Career Exhibition.
