The 7th Azerbaijan International Education and Career Exhibition will take place from 4 to 6 October 2013 at the JW Marriott Absheron Baku Hotel. Over the years, the exhibition has become the largest event in Azerbaijan in the sphere of educational services, occupational guidance and youth employment. It is the only event in the field of education organised with support from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The exhibition is also supported by the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employersí) Organizations of Azerbaijan Republic.
This year, Education and Career will bring together 108 participants from 18 countries, and it will offer extensive information to those who have decided to pursue higher education or improve their knowledge. Higher education institutions from Belarus, the UK, Hungary, Georgia, Spain, Canada, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, UAE and South Korea will present more than 70 faculties, courses and educational programmes covering the most in-demand disciplines in Azerbaijan. One of the features of this yearís exhibition is the active participation of national groups, which take part under the auspices of their state educational authorities. For example, Hungarian and Polish national groups are participating in the exhibition for the first time this year. The largest group is formed of 22 higher education institutions from Lithuania. The Belarusian national group includes seven higher educational institutions from the largest cities of Belarus. The range on offer from the educational institutions and language schools of the UK, the UAE and Cyprus continues to be very diverse. Therefore, thanks to Education and Career, studying at foreign higher education institutions has become more affordable for Azerbaijani students.
The display devoted to Azerbaijani higher education will be more extensive this year, as it represents both the state and private education institutions of Baku and its districts. The list of exhibitors includes the Azerbaijan University of Languages, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Baku Higher Oil School, Azerbaijan Technological University, Baku Business University, Baku Professional School of Entrepreneurship (BSPM), the Azerbaijan International Education Centre and others. Representatives of the educational institutions will tell visitors about life at their universities and the new programmes they have on offer. This will help future students and their parents to see the special atmosphere of each university and to make the right choice for the future. At its stand, Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan will showcase pilot projects in a number of vocational schools, which were implemented jointly with well-known foreign companies within the framework of Modern Azerbaijan Professionals Project.
Visitors to the exhibition will have the chance to find out about Bachelorís degrees, Masterís degrees and postgraduate programmes, as well as secondary education, MBAs, foreign business language courses, apprenticeshipsand training. Visitors will be able to meet with representatives from leading universities and ask them questions they may have, such as how to begin the application process, the best way to prepare, when the deadline is for submitting applications, how much the course costs, what the situation is regarding accommodation, how the higher education institution is rated and what its specialisations are. Exhibitors have prepared special proposals for Azerbaijani institutes on exchanging students and delegates and organising cooperation in science and research.
Education and Career is unique not only in the favourable conditions it offers for making future occupational choices but in the way that it provides real assistance to employers and employees as well. Rapid economic growth in Azerbaijan has resulted in the expansion of businesses and increased demand for valuable professionals - thus creating an upsurge in the development of education.†This trend is reflected in the Career sector of the exhibition, where the leading companies in Azerbaijan will exhibit, including, for example, major employers such as Azercell, ¬–, SOCAR-AQS, JTI and UniBank, which will be offering vacancies in the telecommunications, oil and gas, energy and banking industries. Moreover, among the exhibitors will also be HRC, a company engaged in recruitment. For the first time, the organiser of international exhibitions and conferences in Azerbaijan, Iteca Caspian, will be acting as an exhibitor at Education and Career, and the company invites everyone to visit its stand. Furthermore, companies providing consulting services, training, and seminars on adapting to the modern labour market will also be participating in the event. During Education and Career, jobseekers will have an opportunity to consult with experts about employment, learn about vacancies with employers, complete applications and even have interviews with the HR managers of represented companies.
Pre-schools and schools are being built and renovated in Azerbaijan at the moment, and they need modern equipment. In view of this, a wide selection of furniture and equipment, including laboratories and study rooms for high schools, will be presented at the exhibition. The complete list of exhibitors can be seen at www.education.iteca.az or on the official Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/EducationCareerAzerbaijan?ref=hl.
The exhibition will be accompanied by an extensive business programme, including a number of presentations and seminars. At the exhibition, a roundtable discussion on ĎNew initiatives for Azerbaijani labour market developmentí will take place on 4 October. This seminar has been organised on the initiative of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The main objectives of the roundtable are to establish constructive dialogue between employers and higher education institutions, to discuss current issues concerning the labour market of Azerbaijan, to expand areas of cooperation between these two parties, and to consider further collaborative initiatives for labour market development. The meeting is being held for the first time. It will be attended by the heads of the HR departments of Azercell, Azerfon, Azersun Holding, Akkord, BP and other companies, and also representatives of universities, HR organisations, non-governmental organisations and government agencies. The initiators and participants of the roundtable are confident that this event will form a good basis for decision-making to optimise cooperation between higher education institutions and employers.
An important event of the business programme is the private seminar by Member of the Academy of Creative Pedagogy, Honoured Worker in General Education of the Russian Federation and Doctor of Medicine, Professor Vladimir Bazarny, which is entitled ĎOrganisation of the educational and cognitive process in pre-school and mainstream school institutions and its impact on the development and viability of new generations of the nationí. The seminar is supported by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Professor Bazarny will present a unique system that would transfer educational institutions to a foundation for health development, which will open up the potential of children during their education. The seminar will be attended by representatives of all the agencies involved in child development at every stage of childhood: from antenatal consultation and the maternity ward, to family life, pre-school and school. The seminar will take place on 5 October at the JW Marriott Absheron Baku Hotel.
In this way, the exhibition covers the most relevant issues concerning education and employment. The extensive displays from exhibitors contribute to international cooperation in the field of education; youth awareness about the diversity of areas and forms of education, both in Azerbaijan and abroad; and helping jobseekers to find jobs through the vacancies presented. In view of the growing interest in both aspects of the exhibition, we have decided to divide Education and Career into two separate projects: the Azerbaijan International Education Exhibition and the Azerbaijan International Career Exhibition. The new branding for the exhibitions will be announced at Education and Career this year. The organisers of the exhibition are Iteca Caspian LLC and its partner ITE Group plc. The official security partner of all exhibitions held by Iteca Caspian in 2013 is SafeLife; the official hotels are Jumeirah Bilgah Beach Hotel and Caucas Point Hotel; and the official tour operator is Greenwich Travel Club.
